Submission Guidelines:
A Literary Magic submission does not have to conform to any specific guidelines.
We want you to "write well and make Literary Magic."
We do not place any restriction on the content (writing) but we ask that
(it be your original work and that) you conform to the following guidelines.
- Articles, essays, poems, short stories and all other submissions should
not be more than 5, 000 words. If it is a bit longer than 5,000 words however, it will still be accepted. Details on what
we publish specificly can be found below.
- Please refrain from using any vulgar language or language that gives hint
to erotica, drugs or other restricted content. All genres are accepted, except erotica. Your submission can be violent and
possibly be hinting toward erotica occasionally, but please nothing too graphic or explicit.
- Check your writing for spelling, grammatical and language errors before
submitting it, and please do your best to edit your work. A few mistakes here and there will be accepted, but excessive mistakes
will automatically be rejected. (We have no taste for writing that hasn't been edited.)
- You are welcome to send bylines or short biographies of yourself or previous
publishing credentials, however we do not ask that as all writers will be treated equally.
- Literary Magic is an online magazine so there are no real deadlines for
each issue. We are a quarterly magazine (four issues are published a year) so we ask that if you wish to make your submission
for the following issue that you please do so at least a month before the issue comes out. (We may be more lenient for staff
writers.) As an example, for our next issue, Literary Magic that asks
that if you wish to make your submission for our Summer issue that you do so by June 1.
- Format: To be accepted, your e-mailed submission must read "Submission"
in the subject line. You must also include the type of work you are submitting (e.g. fiction or etymology) as well as sufficient
contact information (name, e-mail, country etc.) Please paste you submission into the body of your e-mail. No attachments.
Deadline: Literary Magic Editors prefer that all
Submissions for the upcoming Summer issue be submitted by June 1. Thank you. All submissions arriving after
that date will not be eligible for immediate publication and will have to wait until the next issue to be published.
Literary Magic welcomes all writers to submit work in any genre or style.
However, we have zero tolerance for two things: Plagiarism and writing that hasn't been edited. If either of these is the
case with your work, then it will be automatically rejected. If you have any further questions about our Submissions page,
or you would like to query us about submitting your writing, then please contact our Editor, Rocky Reichman, at editor@literarymagic.com. (However, you do not have to query us first: Feel free to send us your work
unsolicited.)
Above all:
write well, edit your work and be professional. That's a sure path to getting published in Literary Magic magazine.
I look forward to receiving and reviewing your submissions.
Your literally,
Rocky Reichman, Editor-in-Chief of Literary Magic
